On 20 January, the council of the Institute of Philosophy and Semiotics unanimously elected Professor Bruno Mölder as head of the institute. His third term of office will run from 1 February 2025 to 31 January 2028. The council also elected Professor of Practical Ethics Kadri Simm as the new head of the Department of Philosophy. Her term of office starts on 1 February 2025 and ends on 31 January 2028.

On October 25, 2024, the University of Tartu Senate appointed Associate Professor of Practical Philosophy, Kadri Simm, as Professor of Practical Ethics. This new professorship is distinguished from practical philosophy and theoretical ethics by its focus and interdisciplinary approach, particularly its integration with social science research methods and applicability. In recent decades, demand for expertise in the field on practical ethics has increased significantly both within the university and in society.

A three-year project that will reinforce efforts to promote adherence to the highest standards of research ethics and integrity and prevent research misconduct began in January 2023.

During the summer (in between 27.06-21.08), the library will work on an on-demand basis.
