Apply for Semiotics MA and Philosophy MA until 15 March

Semiotics MA

To apply, a motivation letter with proof of English language proficiency must be submitted together with the application in DreamApply. Bahelor’s degree needs to be obtained in the summer of 2023 latest.

The Department of Semiotics, founded by Juri Lotman, is unique as it is one of the most important centres of semiotics in the world, and it teaches complete bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral programmes in semiotics. Learning semiotics makes you understand meaning creation, interpretation and communication processes in culture, society and living nature, from fundaments to applications.

Further information about the studies and application process can be found HERE.

You are also welcomed to hear our Alumna Talk where she shares her journey at the University of Tartu and gives a lecture on a chosen topic “How to apply semiotics? Using different concepts in the advertising/branding/marketing/finance Industry” by Rhea Colaso (MA in Semiotics).

Philosophy MA

To apply, a motivation letter and a writing sample with proof of English language proficiency must be submitted together with the application in DreamApply. Bachelor’s degree needs to be obtained in the summer of 2023 latest.

Our Philosophy MA is a unique programme as we offer very flexible, interdisciplinary studies with a lot of personal mentoring. You do not need a previous philosophy degree to join the programme: we value diversity in educational background. The programme also includes an internship where you learn to bring the theory of your studies and research out of the classroom and into practice in non-academic sectors and organisations. Further information about the studies and application process can be found HERE.

You are also welcomed to hear our Alumna Talk where she shares her journey at the University of Tartu and gives a lecture on a chosen topic: “The problem of statistical evidence in court” by Sophie Machavariani (MA in Philosophy).
