Guest lecture by Kristjan Laasik on October 5th

Associate Professor Kristjan Laasik (University of Shandong) is visiting the Department of Philosophy. He will deliver a guest lecture on October 5th.

Thursday, October 5th at 16.15 guest lecture in the Departmental Colloquium in room 337 titled „Phenomenal Intentionality: Husserlian Reflections“.

In their recent paper, Andrew Bailey and Bradley Richards criticize Terence Horgan's and John Tienson's arguments in support of phenomenal intentionality. I use Husserlian ideas to counter Bailey and Richards' criticisms.

Because this event is supported by the Graduate School of Linguistics, Philosophy and Semiotics (GSLPS) then PhD students are especially welcomed to attend the talk.

Kristjan Laasik graduated with a BA and MA degree from University of Tartu. He obtained his PhD in philosophy from University of Miami in 2011. Starting from 2013 he has been working as a lecturer and Associate Professor in the University of Shandong in China. His research focuses on philosophy of mind and perception, but also on phenomenology in the tradition of Edmund Husserl. He has published in such journals like Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences and European Journal of Philosophy.
