During a week-long seminar from May 2nd to May 6th on Ludwig Wittgenstein we will have our next Philosophical Film Club meeting where we will be watching Derek Jarman's 1993 movie "Wittgenstein". Discussion after the movie will be led by Giovanni Mion and Erik Thomsen. (Discussion will be in English)
If there is one philosopher whom both continental and analytical philosophers admire, it is Ludwig Wittgenstein. As one of the most important philosophers of language, Wittgenstein challenged how we think about the nature of language and it’s limitations. Inspired both by Wittgenstein’s writing and unique personality, the film offers an unconventional, witty and theatrical portrait of one of the most influential philosophers of the twentieth century. Highly interpretative, Jarman presents the audience with the opportunity to visualize Wittgenstein’s philosophical thought.
The screening and discussion will be held on Thursday, 5th of May at 18.00 in Jakobi 2 room 336
