New Research Professor in Theoretical Philosophy

In February, Bryan Frances joined the Department of Philosophy as a research professor. Being a recipient of the Mobilitas Pluss Top researcher grant, he will lead the project "Expertise and Fundamental Controversy in Philosophy and Science" (MOBTT45) for three years.

Previously Bryan has worked at the University of Leeds, Fordham University and Lingnan University (Hong Kong). He has done research on epistemology of disagreement, scepticism, philosophy of colour, epistemology of philosophy and religion, content externalism, and many other topics. He has published the following books: Scepticism Comes Alive (Oxford University Press, 2008), Gratuitous Suffering and the Problem of Evil (Routledge, 2013), Disagreement (Polity, 2014). On Spring Semester he is teaching a course on paradoxes in philosophy (FLFI.04.072).
